The Philosophy

Science. Craft. Consistency.

I built Callari Strength & Performance around a simple idea: adults deserve better coaching. No trends, no gimmicks, no cookie-cutter programs recycled from Instagram.

Every program I write is grounded in current research on strength, hypertrophy, and body composition — then engineered around your body, your schedule, and your goals.

Whether you're a golfer chasing more distance, an athlete off-season, a masters lifter hunting lifetime PRs, or a busy professional who just wants to feel strong again — the work is the same: honest coaching, executed with craft, week after week.

Sammy's Story

What shaped me and inspired this passion.

Growing up in Northeast Ohio, sports were a huge part of my life. Baseball was my first love, and like a lot of kids, I had big dreams of one day playing in the big leagues for my hometown Cleveland Indians.

But underneath that, I was a pretty self-conscious kid. I was tall, lanky, and had a head full of curly hair that looked like a mop. I can still remember being a teenager and not wanting to take my shirt off at the pool because I was uncomfortable with how I looked. At the time, I had no idea that some of those insecurities would eventually help shape the career and purpose I have today.

I attended a small private high school in Northeast Ohio and, when graduation came around, I wasn't recruited to play college baseball. I enrolled at a nearby community college without much direction about what I wanted to do with my life. I initially started down the path of criminal justice because law enforcement seemed like a solid career. The school also had a baseball team, so naturally, I showed up for the first open practice.

I barely remember throwing a baseball or stepping into the batter's box that day. What I do remember is realizing pretty quickly that it wasn't the environment I wanted to be around. I decided not to pursue a spot on the team. At the time, it felt like I was walking away from something I had loved my entire life. Looking back, that decision opened the door to something that would completely change my direction: mixed martial arts.

As I began training and eventually competing in MMA, something changed in me. I started putting muscle on my once-lanky frame. I became more confident. Training alongside high-level coaches and sparring partners taught me what it meant to work hard, stay disciplined, be resilient, and keep showing up when things got uncomfortable.

I was becoming stronger physically, but more importantly, I was becoming more of the person I wanted to be.

Those years taught me lessons about myself that extended far beyond fighting. I eventually finished my amateur competitive career with a 3–2 record, including two first-round TKOs. But the biggest thing MMA gave me wasn't a fight record. It showed me the power that training can have on a person's confidence, discipline, health, and life.

That realization changed my career path.

After graduating from community college, I enrolled at Cleveland State University and began studying Exercise Science. I immersed myself in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, biology, and the science of human performance. For the first time, what I was experiencing in the gym connected with what I was learning in the classroom. I wasn't just learning how to train — I was beginning to understand why it worked.

That curiosity has never left me.

For more than a decade now, I've had the opportunity to build a career doing something I genuinely love: helping people become stronger, healthier, more capable versions of themselves.

And I've learned that progress means something different to everyone.

It might be helping someone lose 20 pounds and regain confidence in themselves. It might be helping grandparents build enough strength to get down on the floor and play with their grandchildren — and get back up again. It might be helping a golfer in his late 60s add 10 yards to his drive. Or it might simply be helping someone who has spent years putting their career and family first finally make their own health a priority again.

Those wins matter.

They're why I continue to study, learn, evolve, and challenge what I think I know. Training science continues to advance, and I believe coaching should advance with it. My responsibility is to combine evidence, experience, and individualization to give every person I work with a plan that fits their goals and their life.

Callari Strength & Performance is the result of that journey. It represents more than a decade of coaching experience, continued education, lessons learned from thousands of hours on the training floor, and a belief I've carried with me since those early days of training:

You're capable of becoming stronger than the person you are today.

My job is to help you get there.

Off the platform.

Outside of coaching, I enjoy spending time with my wife and our Great Dane. We love traveling, discovering new restaurants, and finding opportunities to enjoy the outdoors together.

Personal growth is a core part of who I am. I'm constantly learning, refining my coaching, and challenging myself to improve. My goal is to help busy professionals build the strength, health, and discipline to perform at their best—not just in the gym, but in every area of life.
